Write Ups
Kansas State vs LSU
LSU and Kansas State will have game one of the Frisco Classic. LSU is fresh off an impressive midweek win vs DBU while Kansas State managed a 3-0 weekend last week at Globe Life. Jacob Frost went 5.1IP with 6ks allowing only 4 hits and 2 runs against Arkansas last Friday. Kade Anderson has shoved in his two starts and looks the part for a Friday Night SEC ace. I believe LSU’s lineup will be harder for Frost to navigate. Anderson can overpower this KSU lineup. Lean Tigers.
Dallas Baptist @ Oral Roberts
Oral Roberts has looked good over the last week with wins against Arizona State and Missouri State. Weston Rouse will get the ball for ORU. Rouse pitched in ORU’s win vs ASU but was lit up for 7ER across 4.1 IP. DBU only managed 3 hits against LSU, but all were a HR. This team has loads of power. LSU transfer Micah Bucknam and James Ellwanger lead this rotation. DBU should overpower here.
Tennessee vs Oklahoma State
Tennessee and OKST will play game 2 today in Houston. These are two of the more potent offenses in the country and Houston plays smaller than Globe Life. Doyle has looked close to untouchable so far this season but it has been against low competition. Gabe Davis will be going for OKST. This game could be a huge answer for the Cowboys after going 1-2 in Arlington & losing a midweek to Texas State. Believe TN is just too powerful tho. Lean Vols & over.
Auburn vs Ohio State
No Cade Fisher again this weekend for Auburn. LSU transfer Sam Dutton will get the start. Similar to last week’s write up, Ohio State can light up a scoreboard. Their bats can keep them in the game with anyone. Auburn has also been red hot at the plate, averaging 11.5 runs per game over their last 4. Auburn is the better team here and should get the job done. Lean Tigers & over.
Miami @ Florida
I’m excited to see what Miami has this weekend. The Hurricanes have looked solid to begin the year, but have not played stiff competition yet. Nick Robert will get the ball tonight. Liam Peterson has been lights out in his 2 starts and will go for Florida. I lean under and Gators here. Miami has looked good, but winning this series in Gainesville may be out of hand.
Southern Miss @ TCU
This will be another good series between two top 25 teams. Southern Miss is looking to rebound after losing a shootout in Oxford on Tuesday. JB Middleton will get the ball against a deep Horned Frog’s lineup. Middleton has been lights out across his two starts. TCU will send out Caedmon Parker. Parker looked better in his last start, tossing 6 innings against Michigan. I lean the under here. Both teams should have the pitching available to keep the opposing offense in check. I took the under, but there is value on Southern Miss here.
South Carolina @ Clemson
I made the trip last year & can’t wait to be back at Doug Kingsmore Stadium tonight. This is one of the best rivalries in college baseball. Paul Maineri is gearing up for his first Palmetto Series as the SC HC. Matthew Becker will get the ball tonight for SC after Dylan Eskew came down with an injury. SC’s pitching is deep and they simply do not hand out free passes. Preseason All American, Aidan Knaak will go for Clemson. Nathan Hall and Nolan Nawrocki will both be making their return to Clemson, after beginning the season as two of SC’s best hitters. We will also see two future first rounders in Clemson’s Cam Cannerella & SC’s Ethan Petry. The Tigers have the ace going tonight, but I feel like SC has the deeper staff. However, 10 is a crazy low total given the dimensions of Doug Kingsmore. I believe there is value with South Carolina here but can’t wait to watch another great Palmetto series play out.
Fresno State @ UCSB
Tyler Bremner vs Jack Anker. We all know about Bremner’s upside but Anker is a talented arm from Fresno. He is projected to be this year’s Mountain West Pitcher of the Year. Lean under. Fresno has value as dogs.
Vanderbilt @ UCLA
Vanderbilt heads out West again. This time they will be playing in the So Cal Classic. UCLA has looked solid to begin the season, but this will be a step up in competition for the Bruins.
Arizona vs Texas A&M
I think there’s value on Texas A&M here. Sure, the bats have been mid and the Grahovac loss sure does hurt, but this team is still loaded on paper. Arizona struggled against top tier competition in Globe Life opening weekend. Ryan Prager has not allowed an earned run yet this season. Can the A&M bats please wake up?
Louisiana @ UC Irvine
Another interesting series taking place out West as the Ragin Cajuns take on the Anteaters. ULL looked improved last weekend, winning a home series vs Nebraska, but they have shown to be flat at times this season. Louisiana’s Chase Morgan is one of the better arms the Sun Belt has to offer. UC Irvine has the much better offense than Louisiana. The Eaters are coming off a good series win @ Texas Tech and should be able to take this one at home.
