3/6 Recap

Write Ups
Coastal Carolina @ East Carolina
- Nothing like a series in the Jungle. Coastal will trotting out a true freshman on Friday. My guess is that he will open for Cullen McKay, but not sure. ECU won a good game against Va Tech last weekend, but this is a down year for Godwin & the Pirates. I think Coastal takes this series here.
Stanford @ UNC
- For some reason, I feel like this series is flying under the radar this weekend. Stanford has the tools to compete in a series with UNC, including Friday Night ace Matt Scott. UNC’s pitching has been hard to hit on the weekends. Looking forward to watching this series.
UCLA @ Maryland
- UCLA will make their first trip to the East Coast as Big Ten play begins this weekend. The Bruins are off to a great start this season, and will look to carry over momentum. Maryland can swing it well and the ball flies here, but their pitching will struggle to hold up. I think I trust UCLA on the road in this series.
Georgia Tech @ Virginia Tech
- The two ACC Tech schools will open conference play against each other. Both teams have a featured #1, while having plenty of pop throughout the lineup. I think I lean Georgia Tech here, as I feel they are just a little bit better but we should be in for another good ACC series.
DBU @ ULL
- DBU will look to carry momentum from their midweek blowout win vs Oklahoma down to Lafayette. ULL has been up & down this season. I have yet to be convinced that they are as good as Southern Miss or Troy. I’ll be on DBU this series, as I just believe they are the stronger team. Update: ULL does not have Morgan as a projected starter this weekend.
Oregon @ USC
- Oregon & USC will face off in So Cal for each team’s first ever Big Ten conference series. Oregon will be seeing their first test of the season, as the Ducks have played all home games against lesser opponents. It does worry me that they somehow managed to drop 2 of those games, but they should be the better team here. USC has looked solid, including a huge win over Vanderbilt. I believe these will be two teams towards the top of the Big Ten standings in the end. Lean Oregon & under.
