Arkansas @ LSU

Arkansas heads to Alex Box Stadium playing some of the best baseball in the country. The Razorbacks became the first team to reach 40 wins. They dominated Texas last weekend and look to carry that momentum into their next two matchups against two very good teams: LSU and Tennessee. LSU is returning home after dropping a tough series last weekend in College Station. Home Field advantage means slot in these SEC matchups. LSU has yet to drop a home series this season and carries an impressive 28-4 record at Alex Box. This series will feature plenty of superstars worth watching. Kade Anderson and Zach Root on Friday night. LSU game 2 starter, Anthony Eyanson, had his best outing of the season against the Aggies collecting 14 strikeouts in a complete game effort. Arkansas Gage Wood looked great against Texas as he continues to build his way back from injury. I lean LSU at home here, but DVH has the Hogs playing well.

Vanderbilt @ Tennessee

An in-state battle that has a good amount of postseason implications on the line. Vandy and TN both sit at 14-10 (5th) in the SEC standings. The winner of this series will reach the 16 SEC win mark and likely solidify themselves as a host site in the tournament. Tennessee has been on a skid, losing 4 of their last 5 SEC series. Liam Doyle continues to impress, but it has not been great outside of that. Without Dalton Bargo’s 9th inning HR in game 2, Auburn would have swept the series. Many of the TN bats that started the season hot hit a wall once SEC play started. It has been a rough few weeks, but I would not give up on them just yet. Tim Corbin has this year’s Vanderbilt team back to his standard. Their offense has flattened at times, but the pitching is one of the best staffs in the country. Vandy is fresh off an electric series win last weekend against Alabama. However, I worry about Vandy on the road. They have lost @ Auburn, @ Ole Miss, and @ Oklahoma. Vandy did sweep @ Florida, but that was when Florida was playing terrible baseball. A few Vandy pitchers also have concerning home/road splits. I lean the Vols. I believe Tennessee needs this more than Vandy does. However; if the Vols repeat their performance from last weekend, they will drop this series and likely be hitting the road for regionals.

Ole Miss @ Mississippi State

When I wrote up the Mississippi State HC opening, I warned about this year’s team getting hot and making a run to the postseason. Since the firing, State is 4-0 and looked good against Kentucky. Ole Miss has been fortunate with their road schedule this season. They have traveled to Missouri, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Oklahoma (dropped series vs SC & OU). Pico Kohn and Hunter Elliot will be another great SEC pitching matchup. Ben Davis has been huge in relief for Miss State. I lean Bulldogs at Dudy Noble. Last year was Ole Miss first time taking the regular season series since 2015 (they played in Hoover and ended 2-2 last season). I believe State continues to play well this weekend and receives a nice boost to their postseason chances.

Iowa vs Oregon State

A huge series for the Hawkeyes this weekend as they really get an opportunity to prove themselves deserving as an at-large bid. Iowa leads the Big Ten with a 21-6 conference record, but has received by about as favorable as a Big Ten schedule as you could have drawn up. Iowa’s Cade Obermueller has been lights out in the Big Ten and will go on Friday. On paper the Beavs are great, but they have been flattened in some games this year. Their best series wins have been against Big West schools (Irvine & Poly) while they carry an average 8-8 record in Q1 games. I still believe there is time to figure it out, but I don’t believe this offense reaches the standard that we all expected in the preseason. I’m just not high on Iowa so lean Oregon State but would not be surprised with another Beaver let down this weekend.

Duke @ Clemson

Clemson and Duke head into this weekend tied for 6th in the ACC with a 14-10 record. After 7 straight road games, Clemson returns to Doug Kingsmore Stadium where they have yet to drop a series this season. They have struggled the last two weeks, but they were @ NC State and @ Florida State. Duke is 1-3 in road ACC series this season with their one win being a sweep @ Virginia. The Blue Devils had last weekend off and will be rested for this road trip. Their offense smashed the baseball in their last two ACC series at home against Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. I lean Clemson here as they are at home and I feel as if they are the more complete team here. Duke can put it together though, so nothing would be a surprise.
