Up and down all weekend. Mid results. Recovered Saturday afternoon from a 0-4 noon start.
Notes
- Unders dominated the slate with a 80-46-2 week one record. I would not overreact as it’s game one for many new offenses, but something to monitor for next season.
- Ohio State may repeat. I would not jump ship on Texas yet. It was a poor offensive performance, but it’s week 1. Matt Patricia’s defensive game plan had Arch in a blender. He also missed throws. The Longhorn defense gave them a shot, but that was it. If Arch can work out the problems, there is a good chance we see this rematch in semis.
- Tommy Castellanos was correct. FSU manhandled the Tide. The books were comfortable on their position for this game all week and I see why. Alabama was flat out bullied in the trenches. Inexcusable efforts all around. DeBoer will have the opportunities to win that loss back, but he better figure it out.
- LSU looks legit on both sides. National contender. Nuss QB1.
- Huepel has his offense back which makes TN dangerous, but can the defense maintain last year’s standard? Georgia comes to Knoxville next weekend.
- Auburn played well, but can they produce that rushing success each game? Baylor had no answer. Arnold will eventually need to throw.
- The Carson Beck era is off to a great start with a win over Notre Dame. The Hurricane D-Line held a good rushing ND backfield to only 3.3 YPC. CJ Carr looked good, but the Irish better regroup before the Texas A&M matchup in week 3.
- Nico wishes he was in Knoxville, but TN has upgraded. Utah dominated and looked like a potential Big 12 winner.
- Bill Belicheck’s first drive as UNC HC started great. Too bad, there was absolutely nothing after that. UNC had some costly turnovers. TCU is a solid team. The SMU game next weekend will be a good matchup.
- Colorado could be decent, but run defense must make huge improvements.
Week 2 Card will be published later today.
Don’s Corner (@GentsClubSports)
Don finished with a 5-8 record on the week but his 4u play of the week (Utah -6) was a no sweat winner bringing the units back up near even.
YTD: 5-8 (-0.46u)
