I would have liked to be more positive heading into March, but no complaints. We have multiple bad beats this season.
Top 25

West Virginia, USC, and Coastal are the two teams right on the outside.
Notes from the weekend:
UCLA goes 3-0 in Arlington. Will Gasparino homers in all 3 games to bring his season total to 10. The Bruins are now 6-0 against top 25 teams.
Florida goes 2-0 at Miami. Kevin O’Sullivan has won 11 of the last 12 series against the Hurricanes. 6 in a row in Coral Gables.
Southern Miss continues to stay hot. The Eagles look every bit of an Omaha contender after a midweek blowout win over Alabama and a 3-0 sweep against a solid Louisiana Tech team on the road. USM sits at #1 in RPI and will host Mississippi State on Tuesday.
The Arkansas bats did not have a good week. They struggled to produce against Arkansas State during the midweek and Friday against UTA.
Mississippi State looked good this weekend. Sunday’s loss against UCLA stung as the Bulldogs had multiple opportunities to win that game. Ump missed the strike 3 call bottom 9th, but you can’t watch a 3-2 that close in that situation.
LSU managed to go 3-0, but where were the bats? Tigers only managed 11 runs over 3 games against Dartmouth and Northeastern.
Texas looks like the powerhouse we expected. Longhorns outscore Baylor, Coastal, and Ohio State 23-6 over the weekend.
Tennessee bounced back in Arlington with a 2-1 weekend. I am still worried about this offense. Outside Newstrom, Ford, and Brown, everyone else was under .200 on the weekend. Levi Clark needs to produce. I would love to see the Vols execute with some small ball, but it’s not their agenda.
Clemson wins the Palmetto Series again. Tigers responded well after dropping game one.
Coastal’s injuries have hurt them, but the Chants hope to build on the momentum from beating Ole Miss on Sunday.
Vanderbilt had a terrible showing this weekend. The Dores go 0-3 against UC Irvine, Arizona, and Oregon, all games they were favored in. Dores are 2-5 against teams with a pulse.
UTSA is an impressive group. Roadrunners go 3-0 on the weekend with wins over Ohio State, Coastal, and Baylor. It sucks they lost Orloski for the season, but they are still the best team in the AAC.
Arizona State went 0-3 this weekend but the Sun Devils showed fight. I still believe they are a top team in the Big 12. Move Alex Overbay to the rotation.
Georgia Tech responds from their midweek loss with 44 runs across 3 games against Northwestern.
Auburn bounced back from a Friday loss scoring 15 and 12 runs in the final two games.
Alabama handled business in their first two games, but disappointed Sunday as a big favorite against Houston.
It wasn’t the best showing from Ole Miss in Houston. Rebels go 1-2 with losses to Baylor and Coastal Carolina.
Texas A&M looked solid in their 10-0 and 9-3 wins over Virginia Tech and Arizona State. Shane Sdao tossed 6 innings of shutout ball against the Hokies.
UCSB cracked my top 25 after a sweep over Utah. The Gaunchos impressed me opening weekend against Southern Miss. They are up to #3 in RPI, but it will likely drop over the next few weeks with Big West play.
Oregon went 2-1 with wins over Arizona and Vanderbilt. They were 6 outs away from being 3-0. Ducks enter my top 25 and will host Oregon State on Tuesday.
