Swung and missed when it comes to betting this year’s regionals. Betting this sport is not easy at times. This year was something we have not seen in a while. It was really fun to watch, but also really expensive to bet. The amount of late collapses and totals hooking did not help either. I had to take some time to cool off, but I am still sitting at almost +30u on the season.

With it being Super Regional weekend, I usually ease up on the volume around this time. It Sucks that it happens to be right after the worst week of the season, but I still have multiple futures still in play.

I am working on my Super Regional Preview so be on the lookout for it tonight or tomorrow morning.

Team that disappointed the most:

Vanderbilt

A lot could fit, but I would have to say Vandy. They played poor in game one, barely escaping Wright State before losing 2 straight to Louisville & Wright St to end their season. From the Regionals Preview write up “Vanderbilt will be hosting 3 very good offenses in this regional. It could be trouble if Vandy’s lineup falls flat, which has happened on a few occasions this season.” Well, their offense fell flat for the entire weekend. Wright State started a pitcher that had ERA north of 8 in the elimination game. He managed 8 innings of one hit ball. The worst showing I have ever seen from the #1 overall seed.

Team that surprised me the most:

West Virginia

I believed WVU had peaked too early this season after falling down the stretch. However, it turned out the Mountaineers were just testing the old Hot-Cold-Hot theory. WVU managed to go 3-0 in regionals which included a clutch victory against Clemson in a tough atmosphere before an insane come from behind victory against Kentucky in the final. In all 3 games, WVU was behind or tied in the 8th inning. If you make mistakes, they will make you pay. The pitching will need to step up as beating LSU in 2/3 at the Box is a very difficult task.
