+1.7u yesterday.

We are down to the final four teams.

  • West Virginia needs to beat UNC twice.
  • Georgia needs to beat Oklahoma twice.

Game ones will take place today with the if necessary games scheduled for tomorrow.

West Virginia vs UNC

  • WVU had best case scenario yesterday. They jumped out in front early, Montesa went deep, and they saved their better bullpen arms. Chansen Cole will likely get the ball today. Cole struggled in game one against Troy, but owns a 3.14 ERA, 4.77 xFIP, and 2.94 SIERA on the season. He is not the type of arm that is going to blow it past hitters. However, he lives in the bottom of the zone and throws a variety of pitches that keeps hitter’s off-balanced. Did Troy exploit him by sitting dead red in the bottom of the zone? Possibly, but I believe Cole and the pitching staff make the adjustments. If he gets roughed up, WVU will have their top reliever ready to go with Ian Korn. WVU’s offense heated up late yesterday, scoring 10 runs in the final 4 innings with 5 scoring in the 9th to put the nail in the coffin. WVU loves to cause havoc on the base paths. They stole seven bases yesterday and broke a Charles Schwab Field record. UNC is a tough team to steal on. Catcher Colin Hynek gunned Guzman at third in their first matchup. UNC will be starting a LHP that I imagine will be throwing over to first base often.
  • After two rest days, UNC will be playing for a win that will send them to the national championship. Folger Boaz will get the ball today for the Heels. Boaz was UNC’s Friday starter in 2024, but has struggled since suffering injuries. Boaz owns a 7.03 ERA, 4.03 SIERA, and 5.97 xFIP with a 3.7 BB/9 and only a 8.5 K/9. Boaz has not thrown since 5/31 in the regional final against ECU. UNC will have a short leash with him as he has only made it through 5 innings 3 times this season. Jackson Rose and Matthew Matthijs will be available in relief. Rose is a freshman that has pitched to a 2.35 ERA this season. Matthijs has experience on the mound in Omaha. He was a third-team All- American in 2024 before suffering an injury in 2025. If it is a close game, I believe UNC will try to get 7 out of these arms before turning it over to freshman stand out Caden Glauber.
  • The wind is howling out in Omaha today. However, I believe the books have over adjusted for it. 15.5 is a high total for any games at Charles Schwab. Neither one of these lineups are built for power. I would also lean WVU as I believe they have the advantage on the mound.

My bets:

1.5u: WVU / UNC u15.5 -110 CZR

0.25u: WVU to score first and win +310 DK

I will add more to the total right before first pitch. I am waiting to see if a 16-16.5 becomes available. If Boaz gets knocked around, I will look for a live under. Lean UNC TT u8.5 too

Georgia vs Oklahoma

  • Georgia gets the rematch with Oklahoma after taking down Texas last night. The Dawgs need to figure it out offensively if they wish to extend their stay in Omaha. Their K rate in the CWS is way above their regular season numbers. Luke Harrison and Sam Cozart struck out a combined 17 batters last night. Can UGA figure it out? I believe so and this is the perfect opportunity. The wind is howling out tonight, which may add a few long balls to the total. The good news is that Georgia has only used 4 arms through 3 games in Omaha. Paul Farley will get the start. Matt Scott will follow. Farley has only allowed 1 run since the midweek match against Georgia Tech on 4/21. He delivered 4 innings of shutout ball against a red hot Arkansas offense in the SEC championship.
  • The Sooners are the hottest team in the country and one win away from setting up a national championship matchup with North Carolina. Oklahoma will be starting freshman Nick Wesloski against Georgia tonight. Wesloski will be the third consecutive freshman to start for Oklahoma in Omaha. He rarely went deep into games throughout the season before delivering 7 innings with 3 earned runs against Citadel back in Regionals.
  • With the wind blowing out tonight and Georgia’s arm availability, I believe they set up a winner-take-all matchup tomorrow. When this offense makes the adjustment, it will all click. The K rate is concerning, but I’ll trust a full season worth of data over 3 games. I don’t mind the over, but it’s a high number and evening games are going under due to the shadows.

My bet:

Georgia -1.5 -118 FD

0.5u: Georgia to score first and win +150 DK

I am deciding on whether to play UGA ML at -200 on CZR to win a unit or wait for a live opportunity. I also may take UGA alt lines up to -4.5
