Hello everyone, welcome to Draft Day.
The Chicago White Sox have the number 1 pick on the board tonight. Roch Cholowsky has been the projected top prospect for a while. A few days before the draft, Grady Emerson soared up in odds, even passing Cholowsky as the favorite. However as of this morning, Cholowsky has moved back to -550 to be the number one overall pick. It seems the White Sox are sticking with their guy from the beginning.
I expect the Rays to take Emerson at #2 with the Twins taking Lackey at #3. Cholowsky, Emerson, and Lackey have been widely considered as the top-tier prospects in this year’s draft class.
I have tickets on Emerson to go #1 at +385, but it is likely dead at this point. I also have a small amount on Eric Booth +1000 and Jackson Flora +900 to go #4 to the Giants, but those numbers are gone.
Disclaimer: The MLB Draft never goes as expected. I do not have much insider information, but it’s always fun sweating out a few plays. These are all small bets.
